Shawn Willis’ 1966 Mustang GT

The Mustang was a huge success for the Ford Motor Company.  Ford had planned sales of 100,000 the first production year.  As it turned out, demand far exceeded Ford's expectations.  In the first 2.5 years of production over 1.2M+ Mustangs were sold.  Although there are many early Mustangs still on the road, few surviving examples are as nice as Shawn Willis' 1966 GT Convertible.

Shawn acquired the car in 1999 and slowly began the process of restoring the GT.  It was not until Shawn enlisted the assistance of Mike Grotto that the project accelerated (no pun intended) to completion.  As you can see in the photos, the completed project is stunning.  Shawn is now logging test miles and enjoying every minute of it.  The car was voted Feature Car at our first Cars & Coffee in April and we needed to wait until the Mustang was complete to do the photo shoot.  For details on the project see - https://www.calaverascars.com/project-updates/shawn-willis-1966-mustang-gt-convertible.  We look forward to seeing Shawn and his 1966 GT Convertible on the road!
