Brad Wolfman's 1934 Ford Coupe

Robert Lomas, an auto body man by trade, has built a number of amazing custom cars including a chopped and channeled 1934 Black Ford Coupe that was featured multiple times in Hot Rod Magazine.  The 34 Black Coupe proved to be so popular that Robert was commissioned to build a Wimbledon White 34 Coupe with some slight variations from the original Black Coupe build.  Calaveras County resident Brad Wolfman is an avid hot rod/classic fan and Robert Lomas' 34 Coupe caught his eye at the LA Roadster Show.  Brad tracked the White 34 Coupe for years and fortunately the car happened to come up for sale on EBay approximately three years ago and Brad was able to add this amazing piece of rolling art to his collection.

This is truly a one-off incredible build.  The car is powered by a 1952 Cadillac 331 motor with an Edelbrock intake and Stromberg 48 carburetors.  Power is transferred to the Hillebrand quick change rear end through a '37 LaSalle transmission. Like the Black Coupe, this car is chopped and channeled giving it a unique look and stance.  Unlike the Black Coupe, Brad's car has a hood over the motor which according to Robert Lomas was one of the most challenging parts of the build given the unique body shape.  The stock radiator was laid back and shortened by two inches to complete the look.  It took twice as long for Robert to build the White Coupe vs the Black Coupe but the results speak for themselves.  When you see the car look for the plethora of period go-fast parts, gauges, and details that makes this car truly unique.

Willem and I were lucky enough to meet Brad at his house for the photo shoot.  Not only did we get to enjoy Brad's 34 Coupe, we also got a peek at Brad's amazing collection including his latest project, a 1936 Ford Pickup with a blown 392 Hemi built by Pete Fleming.  As we found out, custom/classic cars are a family affair with the Wolfman's - from Brad's son's T-Bucket project car to Brad's 1955 Chevy Station Wagon and 1948 Buick Convertible that his Grandfather bought new.  Brad also owns a 1932 Blue Ford Roadster previously owned and restored by Dana Mecum as well as a Black Five Window Coupe with a 383 Stroker built by Mike Smith of California Hot Rod for Brad about 10 years ago.  All this is housed in Brad's multi-bay garage which includes a period Gilmore Gas Station - it doesn't get any better than this.  Brad has graciously offered to host a Calaveras Cars & Coffee at his place so stay tuned!
